My Lost Hour

I am in a rush becasue the Time Lords have stolen an hour from me. Is there someone I can complain to? John Major had the Cone Hotline, does Gordon have the Hour loss directive you can vent your spleen at?The good people of this sceptred isle have voted with their wallets and not bought Ms Myerson's exploitative book about her son. Even after the square miles of column inches from her meeja chums it has failed to hit the bestselling charts. My faith has been restored. Is this some kind of celebrity backlash? Probably not, but it just goes to show if you call yourself a fiction writer, do just that. Write fiction, don't drag your family into your stories and expose them for profit. After the cash cow that was Harry Potter, I think Bloomsbury may have a few returns to sign for. Off to try and reclaim my lost hour. How long will the queue be?

  1. I'm glad too that Ms Myerson's book about her son hasn't sold out. My sons have threatened to leave home - Oh, yes please - if I even use their names for a character.

  2. I agree with your comments about the Myerson book - went so far as to blog on the subject then deleted it.

On the other hand, Fiona now has a strategy for getting her sons to leave home.

I thought everyone had forgotten about the Cones Hotline.

  3. When my daughter was born the whole not particular pleasant process took 48 hours, thing it it was over the weekend where the clocks went back, so actually it was 49 hours and every single hour counted . . .

I to am pleased that 'that' book has not done well, to be honest even with all that publicity it sounded a bit boring!

  4. If you want your hour back then just go to a school concert... I think they install time vortices inside every school hall which make those concerts last seventeen and a half hours at a stretch, despite forty minutes only ever passing outside in the Real World.

And thank you for participating in my bloggers' pitch party today--it's much appreciated.

  6. He he...I agree with the school concert comment Jane. Although I would 'Stargate' it and call it a time dilation field.
I forgot all about the change and woke at 10 (tecnically) thinking I was up (not so) bright and early at 9. :)

  8. So there clearly is such a thing as bad publicity. Who'd have thought it? (And another thanks to Jane S)

  9. Hi Moose,

Come to check out your blog after seeing the link on how publishing really works. Great stuff - looking forward to coming back soon. (I also sneak books onto tables in bookstores – find my favourite authors on a shelf and move them forward!)

  10. Hiya

have wandered over from Jane's pitch party. Haha, good luck with reclaiming that hour. I think the global recession's shrunk time as well - thats my excuse anyway when i haven't written as many words as i thought I should have on my latest WIP.

  11. I'm also over from the pitch party. I'm working on a book on motherhood and creativity (and the difficulty of combining them), so I'm actually interested in the Myerson book, if for unusual reasons. I can't see a link to a catalogue for your books. I review a lot on my site, so throw a book in my direction if you want some publicity.
